Workshop on Ethical Hacking and Information Security

A workshop was held particularly for the students of the Masters in Technology course which had enlightened them about the need of the hour in the world of computers – Security. As we all say, we can grow more and more prosperous and attain more success in life but all this success and prosperity could shatter down once and for all if we are not prepared for its security. The biggest challenge in front of our Tech Savvy(s) is to provide utmost security to our information available on the internet. We have paid very high price again and again for not securing our systems. Hacking has always been a challenge and will always continue to threaten our security if we would not secure our systems immediately. The Indian Institute of Information Technology understands the value of Security and thus leaves no stone unturned in order to make its budding Tech Savvy(s) prepared for this challenge.

This workshop was addressed by the team of “ Security Guru “ which has a long history of being involved in dynamics of Robotics, Automation, Embedded system and Ethical Hacking and Internet Security. They have been known for conducting Education and Awareness Programs on Ethical Hacking and Information Security for the Government officials; helping out the Delhi and Uttar Pradesh Police in cyber cases; they have been supported by the Ministry of Home Affair (Forensic Lab, Hydrabad) ; developed their own software, spywares, bombers, remote administration tool (Trojans).

Their list of clients include IIT Guwahati, NIT Calicut, SRM Chennai, NIT Jalandhar, Guru Nanak Dev University, Punjab etc.  Their course include EHIS course module where they try to read the hacker`s mind and understand the hacking psychology and methodology;  concepts of Hacking; Email Hacking; System Hacking; Trojan; Attacks on Network; web server as a target ; and wireless hacking. They also provided a tool kit to all those students who attended the workshop which had a package of software. This workshop was made compulsory for all the students as well as the faculty. It continued for two days with a lecture of 8 hours each day. A very good step taken indeed by the college management.
