Effervescence MMX
All the streets
of Allahabad were bursting with police force and underlying tension on September
30, But it was hardly visible at Indian Institute Of Information Technology,
Allahabad's fizz frolic and festivity "Effervescence MMX" held between october1
and October 5 2010. The 5 day event was a mixture of various cultural,
technical, fashion, musical, and literary events. All the online events were
held during first two days and all other events which include all the on stage
events, various off stage formal and informal events and celebrity night took
over on the rest three days. The entire campus bubbled with students from all
across the country.
1st and 2nd October:
The festivity
started with online event Stock Hunt
in which each participants was given a virtual amount of 5 lakhs and one have
to invest the amount in various companies listed on NIFTY and who locked the
maximum profit was the winner. Winners in stock hunt were:Roshan Srivastava, Rohit
Srivastava, Ankita Gupta
In Webkriti the best web designer was the
winner. Deepak Modak won the 1st prize, team of Nikhil, Talasia, Shashank,
Manish won the 2nd prize and third prize was awarded to Gaurav, Ankit, Balvibhu.
Purplexuz offered the
series of mind boggling puzzles to participants and one has to solve every
puzzle to win the event. The winners in this event were: Vaibhav Nigam, Shubhadit
Sharma,Pratyush Thakur
Gladiator was a battle of
robots not by guns and bullets; it was coding and creativity to knock the
enemy. The first three winners were: Paras Gupta, Mukul Bharti, Shobhit Puri
Confondere was the event for those who love programming. The
aim of each participant was to make such code which is hard to debug and
understand. The 1st prize was given to Devendra Pratap Singh, Ankur
Garg and 2nd prize was given to Sachin Jain, Anurag Saxena. Team of Shubham
Agarwal and Shubham Sisodia won the 3rd prize.
In Segmentation Fault participants had to
identify the bug and debug them. The first three winners were: Sankalp, Varun
Jain, Ritesh Singh
AL-Khwarizm was an asylum
for those exuberant and creative programming minds to evince their tenacity. This
event won by Anton Lunyov (International Winner)
Platzen
was
an event of numbers and ciphers. Each participant was given an encrypted
message and a key and a little bit of support via hint of the problem. Each had
to figure out the original message. The first three winners were: Shailendra Upadhyay, Nishant Kumar, Saurabh
Konqueror presented a mind boggling game of treasure hunt. The mysteries lead participants on a trail
through the internet and make them connected the wildest things for the
simplest links. The first three winners were: Aman Raj, Animesh Demta, Anshulika.
Coldfire was the event
for hackers to perform their hacking skills. The first three winners were: Sanjeev
Raj Wagle, Varun Jain, Virang
Electrofault was event to
check the knowledge of Electronics. The first three winners were: Vimal Kumar, Abhishek
Kumar, Ashad Kumar
IT Guru was IT quiz for
students. The winners were: Anubhav Srivastava, Neeraj Singh, Rohan Agarwal
Treasure Hunt was the event in
which each team had to trace the hidden treasure by following the clues. Team
of Saket Agarwal, Beenu ,and Nidhi won the first prize.
The Workshop on Ethical Hacking was conducted on 1st and 2nd October. This workshop
was organized by Security Guru.
Approximate 70-80 students from different colleges attended the work shop.
3rd October
Business Plan (Plannum) The first and
foremost thing that attracts every individual towards being an Entrepreneur is
to earn more and more money, the second thing is complete control and the third
thing is to earn a good name in the society by giving more and more employment
and working for the betterment of the society. This event was for students who
had such ideas. The team of Varun, Shikahr and Aakash won the 1st prize and team
of Saket, Saurabh, Monica, Rohit won the 2nd prize. Third prize was awarded to
Saroj, Arti.
In Robo Race each team had to Built a line follower that
traverse the circuit in the least possible time. Rahul Sharma, Tushar Singhal
won the first prize and Rachit Garg, Gaurav Mishra won the 2nd prize. Third
prize was awarded to Abhishek Jain, and Rishab Goel
Feathers was an event to
create an intricate web of ideas and emotions by combining the simple letters
together. The Winners were: Atul Shukla, Tarini, Kheyati
Collage was the event
to show the creativity. The winners were: Atul, Shilpi, Anish
Sollute Imagine you are
givean a case with
a real life problem faced by the corporate world. Any minute problem in the
company could lead to bigger company backdrops. The participants
had to find out the solutions not only to solve the problem but to generate
ideas that could lead to be profitable for the companies. Such event was
conducted and participants who were imaginative and creative in terms of
problem solving techniques were the winners. It became really difficult to
choose the best out of them. Arti Trivedi, Saroj Agarwal was the 1st winner and
Shashank, Tarun was the 2nd winner. Prabhat, Vineet won the third prize.
Mangnix was a circuit
designing contest to show the electronics instincts. The winners were: Harsh
Bansal, Tushar Singhal, Gaurav Mishra
The winners of Tattoo Painting were: Nishant, Kamini, Ashwin
RJ Hunt was judged on
the basis of participants' spontaneity, clarity, humor, personality and
connectivity with the listeners. The winner had a chance to anchor
effervescence main-stage. The first three winners were: Shashank Singh Rathore,
Aram Bhushal, Neha Tyagi
The Street Soccer was a casual form of
soccer with different rules. The winners were: Gaurav, Dhiresh, Sufiyan
B'Cognizance for a good
manager, he has to be a good interpolator, he should know what all is going on
around him so that he could update his employees time and again. He should know
what all is happening in other companies, who has proved to be a master of all
trades and jack of none, so that he could negotiate and increase his value, or
else make his employees better than him. B'Cognizance was a Business Quiz. It
was event of Team of Tarun, Manish, Saket won the first prize, Team of Lalit,
Jayant, Shilpi won the 2nd prize. The prize was given to Arpita, Aarti, Anil.
EC Marathaon tested the
soldering, bread boarding and circuit understanding skills. The winners
were: Naveen Singh, Ashutosh Tripathi
Bollywood Tambola was won by:
Sudarshan, Suraj
Bindas Bol (Street Play)
was One of the big hit. It was variation of nukkad natak, bindas Bol featured
outspoken act. Various team from inside the college and outside took part in
the event. The winners were: Ritesh Singh's team won the 1st prize and Chandan Bharadwaj's team won the 2nd prize
Carpe-Diem (solo dance) was
the 1st on stage event in the fest and it was a big hit. Various participants
from different colleges took part in the event. It had two rounds; the 1st one
was elimination round and in 2nd round the participants were judged on their
performance on the song and prop by allotted to them. Pooja Rawat won the first
prize and second prize was given to two dancers Subhra and Prithvi. Nawshad won
the third prize.
A-La-Mode was filled with
the glitz and glamour of the fashion world. A-La-Mode was similar to any
complete fashion show; it was beauty, carried in glamorous outfits appended
with that heart-throbbing style and panache. Fashion show of IIIT was the
favorite among the judges. There were 4 themes in the fashion show of IIIT in
which Desi Vibes was the winner of the event.
4th October
Mindspeak was an informal
group Discussion and the winners were: Atul Shukla, Aman Singh, Shivendra Soni
Cognoscentia was a perfect
General Knowledge Quiz. Team of Abhinav Mishra, Suyash Sengar, Harsh Trivedi
won the first prize and Team of Prateek, Nikhil, Shikhar won the 2nd prize. Aditya,
Kirti, Divij won the 3rd prize.
Penalty Shootout showed that
Robots can play soccer too. The teams built a robot that kicked a ball into the
opponent's goal. Jainendra, Jitendra, Sachin won the 1st prize and Aditya,
Tushar, Rahul.
In Tongues On Fire leg pulling of friends
fetched the attractive prizes. Team of RGIIT won the 1st prize and team of SHIATS Allahabad won the 2nd prize.
Ad
mania For any business to be a grand success,
we need great advertisement and publicity in order to make the product
attractive towards the customer and put in his knowledge the pros and cons of
the product. This competition was organized and the students surprised us with
their great ideas and plans to sell things. Team of Shwetank, Vineet, Prabhat
won the 1st prize and Arti, Divij, Himanshu won the 2nd prize. Third prize was
tied between team of Shashank, Tarun,
Manupriya and team of Rahul, Ved, Rashika.
Gully Cricket was a casual
cricket with different rules and regulations. The winners were: Ritesh, Amit, and
Jitendra
Melodieux was event of
singing competetion. The winners of solo singing competetions were: Anubhav, Manas
And winners of Duet singing competetion were: Sandeep, Anurag and Anurag, Manas
The winners of Dumb Charades were: Saurav, Atul Shukla
And Tushar
Celebrity Night
Here comes the
most awaited event of the Effervescence, the Celebrity Night. This year IIIT'ians got a chance to hear, the
famous playback singer KUNAL GANJAWALA who
has sung so many hit songs. The entire
sitting arena was divided into different sections due to security reasons.
KUNAL sang many songs and made the crowd enjoy at the fullest. Students could
not control themselves for dancing on the songs. It was a tremendous
performance of Kunal which made the event memorable.
After the
Celebrity Night, it was time for Juke
Box, which is the most awaited among students, where students shook their
body on the dance floor and enjoyed the events at most. It was the most awaited
event for them.
5th October
Cross Fire was the formal
debate. The topic of debate was related to Commonwealth game 2010. The winners
were: Aram Bhusal, Aishwarya Saxena, Atul Shukla
In
Magnum Opus participants had to make a software to show their ability. The
winner was Deepak Modak.
Tug Of War won by Pawan and
Rachita.
If you are a
chatterbox then Trash Talk was the
event for you. The winners were: Adwait,
Aram, and Aman
The winners of Antakshari were : 1.Siddhant, Prithvi,
Niharika 2.Akash, Keerthi, K.Kamad
IIIT A Roadies event does not need its introduction. The
format was based on TV Series Roadies. The winners were: Harshita, Amit, Khushboo
Rajput
Foot Loose was one of the
awaited events. It was group dance. Many teams participated for this event.
Dance Group from JK Institute of applied Physics & Technology, University
of Allahabad won the 1st prize and IIIT A home team won the 2nd prize. The
third prize granted to MNIT, Allahabad.
Innovation was another awaited
event in Effervescence. It was a dramatics event. Many teams from different colleges
participated in this event. Thought provoking themes such as Indian attitude of
"Chalta hai" with special focus on Commonwealth Games (MNIT), how a common man
can help in disasters with showing 26 November terrorist attack ( IIIT A Home
Team) , the IIIT college life with highlighting the issue of child marriage(
IIIT A B.Tech) and life of common man (IIIT A M.Tech), were some of the best
dramas. MNIT, Allahabad won the 1st prize, IIIT A Home Team won the 2nd prize
and IIIT A M.Tech Team won the third prize.
La Frenze was the Duet Dance. There were two rounds in this event the 1st was short listing round and selected couples performed on the randomly given song. The duo of Naushad and Pooja of JK Institute of applied Physics & Technology, University of Allahabad won the 1st prize, Prithvi and Shruti of IIIT A won the 2nd prize. The 3rd position was tied between two duo Loknath, Pavan and Vikas Niharika.
The last event
of Effervescence was Rock Night. 7
Bands from different colleges shortlisted for the final performance. It was the
rocking event. The student crowd became crazy on the beats played by these
bands. The first prize was the cash amount of 25,000. There were several other
prizes of the best Vocalist, the best drummer and the best guitarist.
Every year
Effervescence comes with lots of expectations, this year too Effervescence was
a wonderful event organized successfully with the guidance of all faculty
members and with the help of students.
