In this digital era, the significance and importance of information is very well known and understood as it is impacting each and everyone in their day to day life. But as we know every coin has two sides i.e. a brighter and a darker aspect accomplishes each and every thing. Thus along with having a bright side it also accompanies the other side which is so dark that its impact can have a catastrophic impact if not addressed properly. To focus on the major issue concerning world nowadays, workshop on information security and its application was organised by IIIT-A with support of DIT, MCIT & Government of India. It proved a great platform for the professionals from industry, academicians and students to get an extensive exposure on the technical aspects as well as their theoretical foundations. The 7 days course provided a forum for academicians and industry professional to explore and examine the role and implications of the new era’s innovations in management and its security.

The informative session of the “Workshop on Information Security and its Applications” began on 26 Nov 2009. The Program Content was Information Security Management in Corporate Sector, PCI-DSS Implementation, Cyber Forensics and Mobile Forensics, Web/Application Security, Critical Infrastructure Protection, Network Infrastructure Protection, PKI Process, Key Management, Cryptographic algorithm, I.T Governance and Legislations, Wireless Security Administration and configuration, Wireless Security Administration and configuration, Research Agendas.

Theme of this day discussion was Information Warfare Preventing Cyber crime through WiFi.

The workshop was inaugurated by Chief Guest Brig. R.K Bhutani after which discussion on

Judicial role of developing nation in cyber warfare was held followed by talk by Col. Pradeep Arora Information Warfare and Indian Defense System, Mr. Praveen Bhagat Preventing Cyber crime through Wifi.

Mr. Abhishek Vaish discussed on the most vital topic - Fundamentals of Information Security

and then guided on how to use the workshop as platform for enhancement of overall knowledge

of Information Security and other issues related to it.

Theme of this day discussion was Role of cyber appellate tribunal and significance of security Telecommunication.

Hon’ble Justice Rajesh Tandon told the participants about Role of Cyber Appellate Tribunal.

Then there was discussion of Case Study on Reliance communication by Mr. Manohar Rampal,

Mr. V.K Sharma (CDAC Noida) Content Development of Information Security and registration process.

Theme of this day discussion was Information security content development and Information security in medical science.

Mr. Atul Gupta (KPMG) discussed about IT Audit, Dr. M.S Gaur, MNIT discussed on Protection of critical infrastructure from Distributed Denial of Service Attack, Dr. Vijay Lakshmi Gaur, NIT

Issues of Metamorphic Malware Detection and Prevention, Mr. Kapil (BIT/IBM Noida) gave a

talk on Architectural Aspect of Cloud Computing, Dr. V.K Bhat, Sanjay Gandhi Post graduate

Institute of medical sciences (SGPGI), presented on Role of Information security in telemedicine.

Operating system security.

Mr. Varun Gusain discussed on the risk assessment methodology in corporate world (Ranbaxy),Mr. Pramod Dikshit (PNBIT) discussed on Linux installation and security

Administration, Mr. Yogendra Yadav (Labsystem) discussed case study based on COMPUTER FORENSICS SEARCH & SEIZURE AND ANALYSIS USING ENCASE FORENSICS.

on  Information Security Millennium Application Security & Auditing, Mr. Kulothungan.K on

Cisco Networking and Network Security

Theme of this day discussion was Web Application development and role of database security, Network forensics.

There were presentations by :- Prof. Devakar Singh Yadav, IET Lucknow , on Rigorous Design

of Broadcast Protocols for Replicated Databases, Mr. Rajeev Shukla Web Application

Development Jhoomla and SQL, Mr. Sayeed, on Priamid Computer Network Forensics and Investigation Methodology for Forensic Acquisition, Authentication and Analysis of Digital Evidence.

 

2 December, 2009- Theme-Personality Development by Mr. Shubhash, Parivatan, Director, Parivatan Solution. Then there was a Valedictory Session.

 

Daily there was half an hour quiz supported by Pearsons. At the end of the workshop participants were provided with Educational Kit, CD containing various Slides & tools and Certification of Participation. The Workshop proved a great success and helped in the knowledge enhancement of all the participants.
