Effervescence MM11
"All our dreams can come true, if we have the courage to pursue
them" said Walt Disney. Similar was the
vision of bringing the best of the lot from the youth on a single platform in IIIT
Allahabad in cultural event named is Effervescence. Effervescence is the
annual techno-cultural and management fest of IIIT Allahabad organized every
year with the help of different clubs of the college like dance club, Dramatics
Club, Music Club, Literary Club, Audio and Lighting Club and the most important
the Program Management and Publicity club. The event features exciting
programs. Effervescence MM11 was held from 26th
-30th September 2011. It had indeed, a potpourri of techies, puzzles, robots, hot
debates, sizzling dances and enormous fun! The world is just about to witness
the birth of the finest nut-cracking brains in the Tech-World, the master-minds
of the Computer-World and much more. Puzzling capabilities, innovative skills,
art of expression, and coding-decoding are only few of the drops in this vast
ocean of EFFERVESCENCE. All the online events were held in the first two days
and various on stage and informal events were held in the last three days.
26th September:
The series of events of Effervescence started with Purplexuz. One of the most happening events of the
Effervescence and the most waited one too. It was an amazing game that tests
your brain power and your presence of mind.. Ankit Gola of IIITA was the
winner of this event. Mohit Goyal
of IIITA was the 1st runner up and Mragank Tolwani of RGIT Amethi was
the 2nd runner up.
Confondere is one of the most talked about online events of the whole of the
Effervescence. A highly acclaimed combination of knowledge and fun, the event
is all about online computer coding competition. With the brand name of IIIT
Allahabad, everybody expects huge participation in this event and a display of
some amazing coding skills by our students. The team of Himanshu Jaiswal and Ajeet kumar was the winner.
Stegolica was the event to test your
skills on how good are you in hiding your valuable information, how well can
you protect your valuable data and how good are you in over smarting the people
who are constantly behaving as a watchdog at your data. Rameez won the 1st
prize and Ankit Gola won
the 2nd prize. 3rd prize was awarded to Harshit Jaiswal.
Gladiator keept full on entertainment in mind, participants played with
enthusiasm and proved their talent. The game was like a battlefield and the
virtual battle was more than enough to raise temperatures among the players. Gaurav Kumar won the 1st prize and Sachet Saurabh
won the 2nd prize. 3rd prize was given to Shobhit Puri.
Segmentation
Fault: While Confondere
deals with showing how well you are in writing a program, the Segmentation
Fault tests your actual knowledge of coding. The event deals with challenging
our top coders to debug the errors in the given program.
Android Workshop:
A very informative and important workshop was
held during the very first day of Effervescence. With the huge success of
Android software in the Smartphone market, a workshop was held in our college
to enlighten our students with the use of its applications and also to show how
well they have captured the market and what possible strategies could have been
adopted.
27th September:
Platzen was an event in which the students had to figure out the original
message from an already encrypted message. The students were given a key
through which they could open the original message but still the game would not
be as easy as it seems. Opinderpreet Singh of UIET Punjab was
the winner of the event. Avinash Sharma of Modern
Engineering College and Ashish Mehta of IIITA were
the 1st and 2nd runner up respectively.
Konqueror was the online treasure hunt game where you are allowed to surf
the internet and look for the lost treasure. It was one amazing experience. Vedant Tomar of IIIT A was the winner
of this event.
Coldfire was an event to test you in the world of hacking and to prove
yourself that how well you are in ethical hacking. Avinash Sharma of Modern
Engineering College was the winner.
Al-Khwarizm is
the annual Online Programming contest which is very different from the other
online coding contests. This event is an International level coding contest and
those who win in this event would be awarded with the title of "The Algorithm
Maestro". Anish Shankar from India won the 1st prize and Chetan Bademi from India won the
2nd prize. Risan from Indonesia was
awarded the 3rd prize.
In Treasure Hunt all
the participants have to look for clues and finally reach to a treasure within
speculated time period.
Electrofault was the last event for the
day and the event dealt with testing students on the basis of their knowledge
of electronics, and how well can this knowledge be implemented. The students
had to get ready with some electronic items which would be in running condition
and the best item would be awarded. Anshuman Dwivedi of IIIT A
won the 1st prize.
28th September:
Roborace was an event which was based on the
perfection of the very basics of autonomous robots. The task was to build a
line follower that traverses the circuit in the least possible time.
Business Plan (Plannum) The first and foremost thing that
attracts every individual towards being an Entrepreneur is to earn more and
more money, the second thing is complete control and the third thing is to earn
a good name in the society by giving more and more employment and working for
the betterment of the society. This event was for students who had such ideas.
The Team of Neeraj Agarwal
and Abhishek Gupta of MNIT Allahabad won the 1st
prize, Team of Lipika Mittal
and Nidhi tripathi of HBTI
Kanpur won the 2nd prize. Team of Sumit Rai and Vivek of IIIT A was
awarded the third prize.
Feathers were a creative writing event. Anurag
Ranjan was the winner.
Electro-Maniac was a
technical event which was basically for those electronic enthusiasts who are
the maniac of electronic circuits. It was an event to exhibit their skills. The team of Saurabh Kesarwani, Mohd. Sadique Khan and Arvind Mishra was the winner.
Street Soccer was Inspired by the unbelievable trickery of today's skillful
footballers, this one of its kind event was being staged at IIIT-A for the
first time ever.
Here comes the most awaited informal event of the Effervescence Bindas Bol. It is form of street play. So
many teams have been participated in this event. The winners were judged on the
basis of their theme of the play, acting and the audience response. Team from B.Tech 4th year won the 1st prize, team from DCRUST Sonepat won the 2nd prize.
Foot
Loose
was the 1st on stage event of Effervescence MM11. Foot Loose was one of the
awaited events. It was group dance. Many teams participated for this event.
DCRUST Sonepat was the winner of this event and IIIT
A home team was the runner up.
A-La-Mode was filled with the glitz and
glamour of the fashion world. A-La-Mode was similar to any complete fashion
show; it was beauty, carried in glamorous outfits appended with that
heart-throbbing style and panache. Fashion show of IIIT was the favorite among
the judges.
29
September:
Day 4 started with strategies for different business scenario. The
event was Rannneti. A team of two was
allowed to participate. 3 rounds were there in this event. Team of Priya Arora and Alok Agarwal of MNIT won 1st prize, Team of Vikas Lamba and Swapnil Singh Thakur of IIIT
Allahabad won the second prize. The third prize was given to Sumit Singh and Saurabh Gupta of
IIITA.
Mind Speak was a informal group discussion while Crossfire was a
formal debate competition. The winners of crossfire were Vanya
from IIITA, Sukriti Shrotiya
of HBTI Kanpur and Anubhav Raj Shekhar
of Law College Allahabad.
Penalty Shootout showed that Robots can play soccer too. The teams built a robot that kicked a ball into the opponent's goal. A team of Jitendra Kumar Pal, Jainendra Shukla, Sachin Kansal won 1st prize.
In Tounges on Fire leg pulling of the other team could fetch you the exciting prizes.
RJ Hunt was event to fulfill your dream of being a Radio Jockey. Participants were judged on the basis of their spontaneity, clarity, humor, personality and connectivity with the listeners. Anubhav Raj Shekhar of law college was the winner of this event. Arshabh Chaturvedi of IIIT A was the 1st runner up and Anamika of AU was the 2nd runner up.
Gully Cricket was a cricket with its own rules. It was a form of informal cricket.
Melodieux was a singing competition. There was different competition of solo and duet singing.
Team of Akshansh jain
and Harshit jaiswal won the Techno Fault event.
In Webkriti the best web designer was the winner. Team
of Sandeep from IIIT A won the 1st prize. Team
Innovators from IIIT Gwalior was the 1st runner up and Team of Suyash from IIITA was the 2nd runner up.
The on stage
events of 4th day started with Carpe-Diem (solo dance) and it
was a big hit. Various participants from different colleges took part in the
event. It had two rounds; the 1st one was elimination round and in 2nd round
the participants was judged on their performance on the song and prop by
allotted to them.
Innovation was one of the most awaited events of the Effervescence. It is
onstage dramatics event. So many teams from different colleges were
participated in this event. IIIT A home team won the 1st prize in
Innovation. It was the 1st time in the history of IIITA that home
team has won the 1st prize. Team from MNIT Allahabad won the 2nd
prize. And BTech 1st year team of IIIT A
won the 3rd prize.
La Frenze was the duet dance
competition. Various duos from different colleges performed on different
themes.
Incendiary was Rock Night event.
Eight bands from different colleges were
shortlisted for the final performance. It was the rocking event. The student
crowd became crazy on the beats played by these bands. The first prize was the
cash amount of 25,000. There were several other prizes of the best Vocalist,
the best drummer and the best guitarist.
30 October:
The last day of the Effervescence MM11 started with Ad Mania. Ad Mania was Advertising and Branding competition. A team of 3 participants was allowed to participate. The task of each team was to do branding of our college IIITA. So many creative ideas were shown in the event. A team of Saurabh Rai, Jhonson Toppo, and Aparajita Chatterjee won the 1st prize. Team of Shashank Bansal, Sumit Roy, and Ankit Kumar of IIITA was the 1st runner up.
IT Guru was IT quiz for students. Prakash Gayasen of IIIT Gwalior was the winner. Vidushi Khatri and Nikhil Bansal were the 1st and 2nd runner up respectively.
IIIT A Roadies4.0 event does not need its introduction. The format was based on TV Series Roadies.
In Magnum Opus participants had to make a software to show their ability. Vaibhav Nigam of IIITA won the 1st prize. Sumit Jha of IIITA won the 2nd prize and Rachit Garg of IIITA won the 3rd prize.
Tasveer was a photographic competition. The best photograph of Effervescence could award you the prize. Rohan Agarwal, IIITA and Pratyush Thakur, IIITA were the winners.
Celebrity Night:
Here comes the most awaited event of Effervescence, Celebrity
Night. This year IIIT A got a chance to listen the very famous Indian playback
singer, songwriter, Composer and Actor Lucky Ali. Lucky Ali started his
Playback singing career with the song "Nasha Nasha" from the film Dushman Duniya Ka which
starred his brother Manzoor Ali in the lead role. The
film was directed by their father Mehmood. However the song and the film both went unnoticed.After that, his next song in films was in Hrithik Roshan's debut movie Kaho Naa... Pyaar Hai.The songs Na tum jaano
na hum and Ek pal ka jeena became huge hits
and he won the Filmfare award (Best Male Playback Singer) for Na tum
jaano na hum. The latest
song by him was Bekarar in movie Paathshaala and later in Hairat in movie Anjaana Anjaani.
The
entire seating arena was divided into various sections. Students could not control themselves for dancing on the songs.
It was a tremendous performance of Lucky Ali which made the event memorable.
After the
Celebrity Night, it was time for Juke Box, which is the most awaited
among students, where students shook their body on the dance floor and enjoyed
the events at most. It was the most awaited event for them.
Effervescence
is not just a fest of IIIT A, it is 5 days of excitement, fun, thrill and
sleepless nights. This year too it was wonderfully organized by the IIIT A
family.
