PREPARATIONS ON FOR NATIONAL SEMINAR ON IPR AND ITS IMPLICATIONS ON IT AND BROADCASTING RIGHTS

A three day national seminar on 'Intellectual Property Rights and its implications on IT and Broadcasting Rights' shall be organized from February 17-19, 2006 within the institute premises. This Seminar is aimed at musicians, film makers, software solution providers, legal consultants and other professionals having interest in developing policies that will make the world of IPR more inclusive and appreciative of the contribution of Intellectuals. It is an endeavor to bring together media personalities and academicians on a common platform. This will enable the academicians to foresee the practical problems being faced in this industry and then come to some plausible solutions for the same.

 

IIIT-A FLAG FLIES HIGH AT THE MANAGEMENT FEST HELD AT IIM- AHMEDABAD

MBA class of 2006 students brought laurels to the institute at the highest level, by making it to the finals of the B-planz category of the prestigious All India competition: Anveshan-2006, organized by the Centre of Innovation, Incubation and Entrepreneurship (CIIE), Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad. Dubbed as the nation-wide search for high-tech, high-impact innovators, entrepreneurs, scientists and students, the event featured an eclectic mix of teams from some of the best technical and management institutions of the country, notable among them being IIM's , XLRI, ISB, NITIE Mumbai as also corporate teams from TCS. At the first level, the business plan submitted by the team comprising of Abhinav Johri, Sachin Kumar Singh, Shakil Ahmad and Soumita Mukerji was shortlisted as one of the top 10 plans in the category, which witnessed participation from no less than 300 teams all across the country. They narrowly missed making into the top two teams of the country in the event judged by some of the most prominent entrepreneurs, venture capitalists and technical experts of the nation. Their plan, envisioned around a ‘Rights Manager', was acclaimed by the panel of judges and with some minor refinements, would have surely sneaked into the best two.

 

IIT-KHARAGPUR GETS A TASTE OF THE CALIBER OF IIIT-A

Second semester students reached the finals of the prestigious Techno-Management Fest of IIT-kharagpur “Kshitiz ‘06”.The students rocked the IIT'ians with their case analysis skills to reach the finals .The other teams are IIT-Madras, K.J.Somaiya and other top B-Schools.The IIIT-A team comprises of Amit Kumar and Rajiv Anand.

 

PLACEMENT SEASON AT IIIT-A

The placement season for MBA-IT is on in full swing with Intel being the first company to make an offer. This marked the beginning of a successful journey for all the management students here. A host of other companies have also visited the campus recruiting deserving candidates since then, with many other still waiting in the pipeline. The companies are making a beeline to hire some of the best minds in the country notable among them are Intel, M-BT, HCL, Wipro, ICICI prudential, India Bulls ,Asian paints, IMRB,SDG and L& T Infotech to name a few.
