What & How to Speak?

 

It’s a simple question in reading but a very complicated in its implementation.

 When one is standing at a place where his single word means allot, he has to think. That thinking could be because of lack of knowledge or confidence. If knowledge is full but confidence is less, then comes the role Communication skills i.e. how to speak? (BIG PROBLEM)

 But why it is a problem? Again a question, which has a simple answer – LACK OF CONFIDENCE, TERROR, CHOKING, BRAIN PARALYZED …. Etc.

 In today’s world it should not be a problem. But, still considered as problem specially among Indian Managers and Executives. Now what’s the solution for this problem?

Firstly, every body need to think that communication is giving your message to other & message should be received by the other person fully. No matter what you speak, how you speak. But it should make sense and convey your message thoroughly. It’s not important to use very complex vocabulary to give your message. If it is simple your battle is won half the way, because it can be understood by other person easily. Suppose that person is of different cultural back ground and doesn’t know English of the level you are speaking. Then, it’s not good and loss is all yours. So, it’s better use simple but nice words. And it removes your fear of Communication Skill also as you have to use simple English. Definitely, one should try to use good quality words; still that doesn’t mean use rare and unknown words. That will increase problem on both the sides (orator & listener).

As per me, I strongly believe that communication is not knowledge it’s an ART. And, art develops with practice, more practice, more practice and by giving time. I also believe in simple and small sentences in your formation with correct grammar. So, that it is easily understood by the person sitting in front of you. Problem of terror should not come as person facing you is not going to eat you up if you speak (until n unless you hurt him). So, should speak and express. If a person is of different cultural background then try to find his level. And, reach his level then speak it will make you win the last half of battle.

 Nut Shell for GREAT INDIAN MANAGERS: Communication is best achieved through simple planning and control. To ensure an efficient and effective conversation, there are three considerations:

    * You must make your message understood

    * You must receive/understand the intended message sent to you

    * You should exert some control over the flow of the communication

As a manager (concerned with getting things done) your view of words should be pragmatic rather than philosophical. Thus, words mean not what the dictionary says they do but rather what the speaker intended.
