SunTechnics India – partners in bridging digital divide
by Ms. Priya Ramachandran
Head,  Mktg. & Comm., SunTechnics Energy Systems Pvt. Ltd.

Year 2007 commemorates the 60th year of independence. It is talked to be the year which will bring in various organizations designing programs to minimise the urban-rural digital divide. There is Mission 2007 aiming to provide knowledge connectivity to every village of India by August 15, 2007. That means some six lakh village knowledge centers (VKC’s) with PCs, broadband connection, cable TV, cell phone, radio, power back up and so on.

Various government and private institutions are deploying projects in lines of “rural enablement” in different districts and remote villages of India. These projects are directed towards enabling the rural inhabitants in improving their quality of life.

Under remote village electrification program, the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE formerly MNES) is undertaking various projects through the nodal agencies deployed in different federal states. SunTechnics Energy Systems Pvt. Ltd is working closely with these nodal agencies in delivering renewable energy solutions in different regions of the country. The most recent project is a major off-grid project for the Maharashtra Energy Development Agency (MEDA) under which 50 remote villages in the Satpura Hill Ranges in Western India have been equipped with 1,300 Solar Home Lighting Systems and 149 Street Lighting Systems.

SunTechnics India envisions playing a key role in spearheading the renewable energy scenario in lines with the directives set by MNRE. SunTechnics Energy Systems Pvt. Ltd will act as partners not only for rural connectivity programs but also for meeting any requirement for reliable, cost-effective, remote energy need. We envision working towards fostering an eco friendly self-sustaining energy ecosystem and dream of giving the future generation a greener and cleaner world to stay in.
