STUDENTS RETURN AFTER THEIR CHALLENGING TWO MONTH SUMMER ASSIGNMENTS

IIIT-A MBA students are back after an arduous 2 month stint with a rich repertoire of companies from the IT, Industrial, Banks, Financial Institutions, Insurance, FMCG, Consumer Durables and Consultancy Sectors. Notable among these include Oracle India, TCS, Reliance Infocomm, LnT Infotech, MBT, Asian Paints, Indian Oil Corporation, Maruti Udyog Limited, Tata Steels, ICICI, SBI, Karvy Consultants and many more. One of the most valuable benefits for the students during the two months was to see first hand how the theories and principles learned in the classroom translate in to reality in the business world. This wonderful learning experience has left the students ready and enthusiastic to 'hit the ground running' for their prospective employer with a thirst for action and a hunger to make their mark in the corporate world.

FRESHERS JOIN THE IIIT-A FAMILY

Excitement, anxiety, fear of ragging and dreams - these sum up the feelings that was associated with this bunch of IIIT-A freshers. They are the new kids on the block, just beginning to get a taste of the curriculum at the IIIT-A. They are about to have a rendezvous with life here and be a part of the fraternity which can make India proud. And they are liking what they see, even if it's nothing like what they have experienced before.
Class of 2007 is a highly cohesive unit with a rich blend of students from diverse backgrounds and parts of the country. Of the 48 freshers, nearly 80 per cent have an engineering background, with commerce, science and computer applications constituting the other 20 per cent. While all their life, they have always learnt in the classroom and done exercises as homework, here it is the reverse. IIIT-A is all about learning things by trying them out. The general practice seems to be three-four hours of self-study before the classes - which usually last for three-four hours daily. But there are some who are aiming high. They feel that if they really want to make the most of the course, then they need to put in seven-eight hours of studying before turning up for classes everyday.

FINAL PLACEMENTS OF BTECH AND MTECH STUDENTS IN FULL BLOOM

Several companies of repute have been thronging the campus for the first round of placements. Notable among these are IBM Global, Cap Gemini, Patni Computer Systems, TCS, Indus Logic, Birla Soft, Newgen, NIIT Technologies and HCL. Placements have brought immense excitement and relief to the students in the form of attractive pay packages to the tune of 4.5 lakhs p.a., with 2.5 lakhs p.a. being the average, so far. Still bigger and reputed companies like Microsoft, Oracle and Amdocs have already confirmed their participation in the second and third round of placements.
