The most spectacular event of IIIT Allahabad Effervescence-2014; a complete 3 days package of dance, drama, music, adventure, quizzes, brain teasers, fun and enjoyment; kicked off on 17th Oct 2014.
The fest started rolling at 12.00 am on 17th Oct 2014 with the adventure of hunting treasure in ‘Treasure Hunt’ with around 100 teams running to be the first to lay their hands on the treasure, cracking different clues scattered around the campus. For music lovers ‘Antakshri’ was the event to enjoy and test their knowledge of Bollywood. ‘Kahaani’, the script writing event promised to bring into action the writer in every participant. MUN or Model United Nations was the event organized by Literary Society had contestants participate as delegates to various UN committees. Feathers was the event to bring out the innovative writing skills of the participants and unlock the hidden Shakespeare and Keats in them. The evening was jazzed by the solo and duet dance competitions. ‘Carpe Diem’, the solo dance competition and ‘La Frenze’, the duet dance competition had various contestants from different institutes and their electrifying performance enthralled the audience.
The second day ‘B-Quiz’ was held that challenged the knowledge of the participants about the business world. The event ‘Ad-Mania’ had the contestants diving into the creative and colourful world of advertisements. ‘Platzen’, an event of numbers and ciphers, made entrants decrypt the given messages and figure out the original one. Call them fashion-freaks or fashion-lovers, but they sure set the stage on fire with elegance and style at the fashion show ‘A La Mode’. Then there was a group dance competition ‘Footloose’ that tested the dancing skills and synchronisation of the contestants. The main stage dramatic event ‘Innovation’ made the stage come alive by their performance. The Music Society organized ‘‘Melodieux’ the musical event, the rhythmic war of excellence. Then there was ‘Face Painting’, a painting event with one-of-a-kind canvas, where contestants were required to use body parts as a backdrop for colourful creations.
Final day witnessed the brain wreaking quiz contest ‘Cognoscentia’ with participation from some of the best quizzers of the nation, bringing out the best of brains and most aware minds. ‘Director’s Cut’ was organized by Rangtarangini, the Dramatics Club, in which entrants had to make a short movie or documentary of any kind. ‘Bindas bol’, an informal event, was a variation of ‘Nukkad Natak’ or Street Play, where participants were given complete freedom to choose the subject of their play. In the event ‘Tug-of-War’, physical strength of various teams was tested against each other. The campus was dazzled and spell bound by the graceful presence of Ambarsariya fame singer Sona Mahapatra in ‘Celebrity Night’. She made the whole campus dance to her tunes. After which the students danced the night away on the enticing music played by the DJ.
