Optimism-My Perspective
by Prabal Pratap Singh
Started writing this
article, don’t have a clue what to write, or how to write? So
for a change lets start with one of my favorite quotes - “If you
do what you’ve done always done, then you’ll just get what
you’ve always gotten”. I don’t exactly know which great person
said this, but I completely agree with him , and I am feeling
pretty witty saying that what I’ve got in life was mostly due to
another’s efforts. Sometimes it was my father’s , my mother’s,
my teacher’s or my friend’s . I believe that I have done a lot
for what I am today. But if I think this way that who am I
today? Just an MBA student like thousands others in the country
or can say millions in the world. No, no, no you got me wrong
……….. I am not being nostalgic or sarcastic, nor am I frustrated
with my MBA. I am better than billions of people in the world
and millions in our country who don’t have a job or as one can
say a good job. Or even you can think below that level if it
gives you more comfort. Think about people under poverty line,
people sleeping on the footpath or even people in mental
hospital or in jails. Feeling pretty relaxed, are you? So
friends this is the first lesson of this article that whenever
you feel depressed and frustrated, look below you, it feels
great.
But not always this strategy works, because if you always look
at the bottom you can never reach at the top. And at the same
time if you’ll always look at the top, sometimes in the middle
of the path you must feel depressed that how long is the way to
the top. So my advice to you is that take a balanced approach
towards your life. Just think the way you feel like. It’s not
always that hard work pays, sometimes being lazy is a profitable
business. People often say that optimism is the key to success.
So I also agree with that but in the way I want to agree with
it. I feel that optimism should be rational. Because conditions
will not always be in your favor. Sometimes you study hard for
your exams, but the result might let you down. Then it doesn’t
mean that the next time you shouldn’t work hard. Although it
might give you lots of free time for table tennis, movies and
friends!!! But it would hurt your future prospects and also your
mark sheet. A single failure is not end of life.
A great person once said that “ Our greatest
glory is not in never falling, but in rising every time we
fall”, so guys fall, fall again and again, its fun falling! You
guys must have seen the marketing punch line of a movie that
said “Come, fall in love” and that was a huge hit and the
producers raked in the money. So falling is not always bad. Its
what you learn from the fall, and maybe not even your fall, you
can also learn from another’s fall. A person(I don’t know
whether he was great or not) once said“ Money is not everything
in life , after all there are credit cards, shares, property and
bank balance too” . So we humans created such things to be
happy, and we do what we want to. Even if we are sad, its
because we choose to be. If we fail in life, its we who choose
to do so. It’s said that, “A Successful person is the one who is
satisfied with himself”. But according to my theory, “ A
satisfied person can never be a successful one” because the
moment you are satisfied your struggle stops, and then you can’t
be successfull. “There are two ways of sufficiency and
happiness. We may either diminish our wants or augment our
means; either will do- the result is the same. But if you are
wise, you will do both at the same time”. So guys its up to you
whether you read this article or not, but since you are reading
it, so I just want to thank you for it! Trust me, life is not
about being satisfied always. Sometimes being restless
helps!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
