The saying goes “Some men are born great ,some achieve greatness and upon some greatness is thrust upon.” Our late

PM of India pt. Jawahar Lal Nehru was born great and the office of primeministership was thrust upon him. But Mahatma Gandhi was neither born great nor greatness was thrust upon him. He achieved greatness in his life by his constant and honest effort, step by step.

Mahatma Gandhi was the only ordinary student but his theory of truth and non-violence and his famous book “My Experiments with Truth” made him a global hero. Gandhiji went to South Africa to plead a case of his client. He was thrown out of the first class railway compartment by white people irrespective of the fact that he had a valid railway ticket. So he was forced to pass the whole night sitting on a bench at the concerned railway station. It was here that the seed of revolution developed in his mind against the white people and he decided to spend the rest of his life for this mission. Later when he returned to India, the people here welcomed him as the hero of the revolution against the white people. The mass of India joined his Quit India Movement which ultimately gave us freedom.

After our Independence, people gave him the title ‘Father of the Nation’ and he achieved the highest height in life. The lives of great people reflects the same story, i.e, achieving greatness to the highest height by constant honest effort. The great poet Tulsidas , Surdas, Rabindra Nath Tagore, Shakespeare, Sarojini Naidu and many others who achieved the height by their own individual efforts, Similarly , in other fields of life as well, personalities of world recognition have the same story as Albert Einstein and Isaac Newton and many others.

There is nothing impossible to achieve if we sincerely and honestly dedicate ourselves to achieve our goal. There is a truth in the saying of Napolean Bonaparte:

” The word impossible is not found in my dictionary as there is always vacancy at the top.”
